Twelve teenagers broke out from the Juvenile Holding Centre at Sophia, Georgetown, last night. Five of them were recaptured early this morning.
Guyana Standard has been informed that the teenagers, who have matters ranging from murders, robbery underarms and rape, broke out of their cells and proceeded to attack security personnel who were guarding the entrance of the building.
The guards were attacked with bottles and pieces of wood. A police source confirmed that five of the escapees have since been recaptured.
