Regional Commander, Phillip Azore has confirmed that his ranks are investigating the death of an elderly security guard whose body was found in the Le Repentir cemetery this morning.
The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Margaret Dawson of Albouystown, Georgetown. The elderly guard was employed with Professional Guard Services.
Guyana Standard has been informed that the woman was found partially nude with an injury to her head. Her body was discovered next to a tomb.
Police believed that the woman might have been attacked while on her way to work this morning and dragged to the cemetery where she was reportedly raped before she was murdered.
It appeared as though the woman was struck to the head. A suspect has been arrested.
