Ballots contained in 87 boxes were counted today as Day 17 of the recount of votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward: 19 boxes were completed for Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara); 19 for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); 14 for Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice); 24 for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne); 11 and for Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).
Regarding tabulation, 928 Statements of Recount (SORs) for General, and 927 for Regional Elections would have been completed thus far.
Today’s exercise brings all boxes processed to 961, or 41% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections. GECOM now has 8 days to complete the remainder of the boxes.
