Ballots contained in 90 boxes were counted today as Day 23 of the recount of votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward: eight boxes for Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) were counted; 21 for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); 24 for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne); four for Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni); 14 for Region Eight (Pomeroon/Supenaam); and 11 for Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo); and eight for Region Ten (Upper Demerara/Berbice.
With regards to tabulation, some 1,423 Statements of Recount were processed for the General and 1,439 for Regional Elections.
Today’s exercise brings all boxes processed to 1,469 or 62% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections.
