Guyana has reported one new case of the COVID-19 virus; taking the overall number of persons infected to 159. This was according to the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shamdeo Persaud, during the COVID-19 update today.
He said that this case would have come from the seven tests done today.
Further, he reported that three more persons would have recovered; taking the total number of persons to survive the virus to 95.
The number of deaths remains at 12.
To date, the total number of persons tested is 1, 927 with the number of negative cases being 1768. There are 52 active cases in institutional isolation, one patient is in the COVID Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 22 in institutional quarantine.
Globally, the number of cases is 7 ,273, 958 with 413 372 deaths. In the Region of the Americas, the total number of positive cases is 3, 485, 245 with 189, 544 deaths.
