Police are investigating a hit and run fatal accident which occurred last evening around 19:00hrs on Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara, that has left one dead and another hospitalized.
The accident involved a motor vehicle. The name and particulars of the driver are so far unknown.
The police, in a release said one of the victims was discovered motionless on the northern edge of the road, while the other individual was found in a semi-conscious condition on the grass parapet.
Both individuals were seen with severe injuries about their heads and bodies.
They were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation by police ranks; one was pronounced dead on arrival. The other was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit.
Debris of a vehicle was also seen scattered on the northern side of the road.
The Guyana Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the victims and for any information that will trace the vehicle involved and the apprehension of the driver.
