Two persons were yesterday arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs, after ranks in Lethem stopped and searched a lorry in front of the Kurupukari Outpost.
A search conducted inside the lorry found several parcels containing 10, 026 grams of suspected marijuana concealed in an icebox. The men were told of the offense committed and taken to the station.
Also, last Sunday, police ranks conducting a roadblock operation in front of the Beterverwagting Police Station searched a motor car with five males, including the driver, and found a haversack containing 1.571 grams of suspected cannabis in the trunk.
The men were detained and subsequently released on bail. Legal advice has since been obtained to the effect that the driver alone is to be charged; he is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
