A convicted prisoner who was yesterday found with 1472 grams of suspected cannabis in the Mazaruni Prison compound, is being processed for court.
According to a police release, a prison officer was patrolling the inner perimeter of the penitentiary around 07:45 hrs yesterday, when he observed the prisoner acting in a suspicious manner. The inmate was holding a bucket at the time.
The convict, on seeing the officer, made a dash behind the prison’s chapel but was immediately pursued. He was later apprehended and a search of the bucket revealed the prohibited substance.
