Newly appointed Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill, and Junior Minister, Deodat Indar, today met with Heads of Agencies that fall under the purview of the ministry to share executive briefs on each agency and the state of affairs on individual policy directions.
According to the ministry’s Senior Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Krest Cummings, Indar encouraged the Agency Heads to submit their financial report so he can conduct an “assessment analysis to ensure an efficient and smooth transition for the works to be completed within the Ministry and its agencies”.
Heads of Agencies represented at the meeting were: Horace Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Hinterland Electrification Company Inc.; Dr. Mahender Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Guyana Energy Agency; Dr. Arron Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of Power Producers & Distributors Inc.; Dr. Albert Gordan, Chief Executive Officer of Guyana Power & Light Inc.; Claudette Rogers, General Manager of Maritime Administration; Marcelene Merchant, General Manager of Transport & Harbours Department; Gale Culley-Greene, General Director of Canawaima Ferry Service Inc.; Rawlston Adams, General Manager of Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation; Lt. Col. (Retd) Egbert Field, Director General of Guyana Civil Aviation Authority; and Ramesh Ghir, Chief Executive Officer, Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
Minister Edghill encouraged the Agency Heads to pay keen attention to their current work plan, local and international obligations so as to assist the Government of Guyana to immediately attend to priority projects.
More so, all Head of Agencies committed to working with the newly elected Ministers with responsibility for the Ministry of Public Works as they seek to advance the infrastructure throughout the length and breadth of Guyana.
In the coming weeks, the ministers will visit each agency to familiarize themselves with the management and staff.
