For months, the Board of Directors of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) did not meet. But, days after the new Cabinet was sworn in, Chairman of the Board, Larry London saw it fit to convene a meeting.

This was communicated to the Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill.
According to Edghill, news of Friday’s meeting caused him to initiate a “cordial” conversation with London, where “firm’ instructions were given.

Edghill told Guyana Standard that he told London not to proceed with any Board meetings or decisions at the GCAA until further notice. The Minister said that similar instructions were conveyed to Director-General Egbert Fields.

Minister Edghill said that he explained to the gentlemen that the government must have the opportunity to act and give policy direction.
“It was a very cordial conversation, there was no hostility. There was never any hostility between us, even when I roasted him about the D’urban Park Project.”

Guyana Standard understands that London is still to offer his resignation.
