The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport is denying that Minister, Charles Ramson Jr., ordered his staff to leave their mobile phones at the gate.
The claim was made by a social media page called “Network News Update”.
See full statement below:
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has noted an entirely false and ridiculous article published by Network News Update on August 13, 2020, via their Facebook page, captioned “Dictator Ramson Orders All Staff to Leave Phones at Gate”. The Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports is a young minister who appreciates the value of mobile phones for both productivity and connectivity, especially for young people mapping the modern world.
This is a stark distinction in comparison to the Government of Geriatrics led by David Granger and his appointed ministerial relics of the past with an average age of 65. While the political publication was intended to malign the reputation and goodwill of the Honourable Minister, it, in fact, turned out to be an amateurish and comical conceptual flop.
The Honourable Minister is, however, grateful for the opportunity to remind the public of how the previous administration neglected young people for the past five years and even betrayed the young leaders within their political outfit who campaigned energetically in 2015 but were left out in the cold from all ministerial and parliamentary appointments.
Finally, the use of the word ‘dictator” in the article is also a useful reminder of the previous administration’s transparent and internationally recognised attempt to rig the 2020 General and Regional election from which Guyanese are now only slowly recovering from the 5-month emotional torture. Guyanese all over are relieved that our sacred democratic values were restored on Aug 2nd 2020.”
