Roadways at five West Coast Berbice villages have been blocked by protesters, police say. These villages are Bellevue, Number 40, Number 28, Number 30 and Hopetown.

According to Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Assistant Commissioner, Royston Andries- Junor, joint service ranks are on the ground trying to restore normalcy.

Demonstrations were set into motion by residents of Number Three Village following the brutal murder of 16-year-old Isaiah Henry and his cousin, 19-year-old Joel Henry last weekend.

Five persons are in police custody assisting with the investigation.

Investigators, from all indications, are yet to find a breakthrough in the case, which is being treated by villagers and activist groups as a hate crime.
