Two men were today charged with the murder of Orlando Jonas of Number One Road, East Berbice-Corentyne, which occurred days ago.
The men, 25-year-old Sampson Gagaprasad and 27-year-old Kris Nandlall, both of Chesney Village Corentyne, appeared at the Reliance Magistrate’s Courts.
The men were not required to plead to the indictable charge, which stated that on September 6, 2020, at Albion Public Road, Berbice, they murdered Jonas, a carpenter.
According to reports, on the night of the incident, Jonas was in the company of friends when an individual attempted to rob them.
The men ended up in a scuffle, and as a result, Jonas was stabbed to the abdomen and suffered lacerations to the face and neck.
After receiving injuries, he attempted to ride away, and he collapsed. He was later picked up and rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital but succumbed moments later.
