Leader of the Opposition, Joseph Harmon said that any investigation which the Government wishes to embark upon, will not “affect” members of the former regime. He made this comment this evening in the National Assembly as the House debates the 2020 National Budget.
It was Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo, who told the House this afternoon that investigations are ongoing and pending into allegations of procurement fraud, bribery and fuel smuggling that allegedly took place under Harmon’s government.
Jagdeo said that top-ranking officials of the Coalition are “neck-deep” in these allegations. But Harmon refuted the contention; saying that Jagdeo’s revelation on investigations are nothing but threats, and that the Coalition has nothing to fear.
“So, those investigations are not going to affect us…That’s all they’re doing: investigating and investigating and investigating – govern! That’s what you’re there for!” Harmon said.
