A police officer was this evening shot while on duty at Guyhoc Park, East La Penitence, Georgetown.

Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner, Royston Andries-Junor confirmed the shooting.
He said that the incident occurred sometime around 18:50hrs.
Guyana Standard understand that the injured rank is currently receiving medical attention at a city hospital.
His condition is not life threatening, the PRO reported.
The suspect is in custody and the firearm has been lodged.
