Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred today at Corentyne Berbice.
The accident, which occurred around 10:45hrs on Seawell Public Road, involved motorcycle, CK 4094, driven by Kenny Teakadharry, 36, of Albion Road Corentyne Berbice and pillion rider, 26-year-old, Radha Shivcharran, of Belvedere Village, Corentyne Berbice.
Enquiries disclosed that the motor cycle was proceeding west along the southern carriageway at a very fast rate of speed and whilst negotiating a left bend, the driver lost control and collided with a steel rail on the northern side of the road.
As a result of the collision, the driver and pillion rider were flung from the motor cycle and received multiple injuries about their bodies.
They were picked up and taken to the New Amsterdam hospital, by members of the public. The pillion rider was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty and the rider was admitted suffering from a fractured right leg. He is in a stable condition.
The scene was visited by police and an investigation is ongoing.
