A 30-year-old man who is accused of allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16, was today charged with rape.
Shurlon Daniels of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara – Berbice), appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune in the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
He was not required to plead to the charge, which alleged that between June 1 and August 31, 2019, at Central Amelia’s Ward, he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
Daniels was placed on bail in the sum of $200,000 and having to lodge his passport and report every first Monday to the police. The matter is set for December 14, 2020, for filing of statements.
