A 53-year-old man, who has been creating havoc within the Berbice area, was today charged with burglary.
Suresh Chand Latchman, also known as “Rice” of no fixed place of abode, appeared before His Worship Rabindranath Singh in the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.
He was not required to plead to charges, which alleged that on November 7, 2020, at Line Path Corriverton, Berbice, he stole a number of items valuing $74,000, the property of Hasena Mohammed.
It was further stated that on November 12, 2020, at Line Path Corriverton, Berbice, he stole a quantity of articles valued at $430,00, the property of Angeli Janak.
However, the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) was applied, and the accused pleaded guilty.
As a result, His Worship Singh sentenced Latchman to 36 and 24 months behind bars, respectively. He also ordered that the sentence run concurrently.
