A 42-year-old businesswoman and her 14-year-old son have landed themselves in hot water after they allegedly robbed a manager of Gamell’s Lumber Yard.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Mario Gamell of Hosororo, North West District.
Enquiries disclosed that on Saturday last, at about 18:45 hours, Gamell paid his workers and allegedly had $765,000 remaining in his possession.
He then placed the money in a blue strap bag and went to his mother’s shop, which is located at Kumaka waterfront.
While waiting at the shop, Gamell claimed that he placed the bag on the counter next to him. However, he forgot the bag and went home.
Upon realising that he forgot the bag, Gamell returned to the shop and discovered that the bag was missing, and after making enquiries, the 14-year-old informed him that he moved the bag and took it to his mother – the 42-year-old suspect.
According to Gamell, he made contact with the suspect, who handed over the bag. However, when he checked the bag in her presence, he only found $65,000.
The matter was reported to the Mabaruma Police station, and an investigation is ongoing.
