A 22-year-old man, who collided with a utility pole on the La Bonne Intention Railway Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), last evening, has succumbed to his injuries.
Dead is Anthony Patterdin of Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD). The accident occurred at about 22:30hrs on Friday night.
Enquiries disclosed that Patterdin’s motor car was proceeding east along the northern side of the LBI Embankment Road, allegedly at a fast rate of speed when he lost control and collided with a utility pole on the southern side of the road and ended up in a nearby trench.
According to police, he was the lone occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Nevertheless, he was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was admitted in a severe condition.
However, at about 01:30hrs this morning, Patterdin took his last breath while receiving treatment. His body is at the hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination (PME).
