A 64-year-old man was killed on Sunday night in a hit and run accident along the Huntley Public Road, Mahaicony.
The dead man has been identified as Rohit Tooknauth of 5 Huntley, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD). The accident occurred at about 19:30hrs.
Reports are that a resident heard a loud explosion in front of his house and went outside to investigate.
As he made several checks, he observed Tooknauth lying in a conscious state next to a nearby drain. The injured man was picked up and rushed to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. Police investigations are ongoing.
