The Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill today visited the Stabroek Market area, where vendors were complaining bitterly about flooding, due to clogged drains and a broken valve which regulates the water flow.
Minister Edghill ordered his Special Projects Unit to intervene and conduct the maintenance works, as a result of neglect by the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown.
According to the Minister, “Mayor and City Council needs to do their job. They are collecting revenue and are not functioning as they should, especially in the Markets. What are they doing with tax payers money? We are doing Albouystown and other projects already on their behalf presently.”
Minister Edghill also conducted a visit to the Transport and Harbour’s Goods Wharf on Water Street, Georgetown where he urged the ground staff to enforce the wearing of masks and social distancing.
He also inspected a new generator ready to sail to Region One.
Over at in Durban Back Lands, Minister Edghill inspected ongoing construction work at Eleazar, Phase 2.
