A 33-year-old woman lost her life last night around 11:24 pm. The car she was in crashed into the concrete median strip on the McDoom Public Road.
The deceased has been identified as Ameena Sooklall of Lot 27 Providence, East Bank Demerara. Police officers at the scene told Guyana Standard that the woman was in the passenger seat before being removed, placed on the road and covered with what appeared to be two bed sheets.
The driver of the car was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital and up to the time of publication, was in a critical condition.
This news agency understands that Sooklall was the mother of a 10-year-old daughter and had left her home earlier yesterday to run a few errands for her father.
The matter remains under investigation.
