The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) says that it appreciates the patience and understanding of stakeholders as it finalises grades for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) July/August 2020 examinations.
Throughout the review process, CXC said that it endeavoured to be “thorough and to comply with our quality assurance processes”.
The Council noted that results were shared with CXC’s Local Registrars on December 31, 2020 and began releasing grades to students via the online student portal yesterday.
Controversy erupted last September, when thousands of students expressed disappointment in their grades which led to a unified call for the review.
The commencement of that review came against the backdrop of CXC’s Registrar, Dr Wayne Wesley saying that internal system checks revealed no glitches or anything to suggest that the results were botched.
CXC said today that it is currently in dialogue with the Ministries of Education across the region to finalise details for the administration of the regional examinations in 2021. These details will be made public within the coming weeks.
