“I do trust, and I do hope that they have the right people,” is the reaction proffered by the Opposition Leader, Joseph Harmon, regarding the trio charged for the grisly murder of cousins, 16-year-old Isaiah and 19-year-old Joel Henry, last year.
This morning, Vinod “Magga” Gopaul, Anil “Dan Pole” Sanchara and Akash “Monkey” Singh appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. The police claim they received a confession from one of the suspects, and another person of interest is being sought.
But Harmon has doubts about the police’s ability to “find the right people”.
“The actions of the Guyana Police Force, and the manner in which they have conducted this investigation does not inspire confidence in their ability to find the right people, but I do hope that they have the right people, and they’re not just pinning this on somebody just for the sake of saying we’ve solved this problem,” Harmon said during a press conference today.
The severely mutilated remains of the teens were found aback Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice (WCB) last September. Their deaths triggered protest actions along the West Coast Berbice corridor and around the country.
