Police are investigating the death of 20-year-old Danielly Daniels of Hotoquai Village, North West District.
The incident occurred on Saturday between 07:00 hrs and 07:40 hrs at Morawhanna, North West District.
Reports are that Daniels was visiting her aunt, Theresa Romaldo, at Morawhanna, North West District, when the incident occurred.
Theresa reportedly told investigators that she last saw Daniels at about 07:00 hrs sitting on the wharf on her cellular phone.
According to Theresa, at about 07:40 hrs, she observed Daniels was missing, and a search party was formed, which included a 40-year-old man and others.
The 40-year-old man went into the water and subsequently found Daniels submerged. Daniels was fished out of the water and rushed to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was placed into the Hospital’s Mortuary; a Post-Mortem Examination (PME) is expected soon. Investigations are ongoing.
