A 33-year-old man who allegedly shared nude photographs of a 16-year-old girl was on Monday charged.
Ryan Seecharran of Kitty, Georgetown, was hauled before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs- Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on January 10, 2021, at Kitty, Georgetown, he used a computer system to publish obscene/explicit photographs of a 16-year-old via WhatsApp status to humiliate her, causing her to substantial emotional distress.
The court heard that Seecharran and the teenager are friends; however, it is alleged that the accused asked the girl to share a relationship in which she refused.
Police Prosecutors said that the teenager turned down Seecharran’s offer, and he became angry and exposed the child’s nude photos on his WhatsApp status.
Reports are that the teenager sent her nude photos to a female friend, who then sent them to Seecharran.
Guyana Standard understands that Seecharran is expected to be slapped with more charges.
Magistrate Isaacs- Marcus, after listening to the facts of the matter, released Seecharran on $300,000 bail and adjourned the case to February 15, 2021.
