The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is probing an alleged break-in and theft of several documents from the Police Service Commission (PSC) office at Fort Street Kingston, Georgetown.
Police Public Relations Officer Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor has confirmed that ranks are on the scene.
Guyana Standard understands that the break-in and larceny occurred between last night and early this morning.
This incident comes on the heels of a promotion fiasco currently engaging the High Court. As a matter of fact, only last week, Commissioner of Police Nigel Hoppie had revoked the promotion of several junior ranks after it was discovered that the promotion lists were tampered with.
One day after the revocation of the junior ranks’ promotion, Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn said that he would be reviewing the lists of junior and senior police ranks who were recently promoted by the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
He revealed that there were alleged corrupt practices in regards to the promotion of ranks.
