An 18-year-old boy was today sentenced to 80 hours of community service after he admitted to having a quantity of marijuana in his possession.
Shamar Mankou of 693 Phase 1 ‘B’ Wisroc Housing Scheme, Linden was hauled before Her Worship Wanda Fortune in the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
Mankou pleaded guilty to the offence, which stated that on January 21, 2021, he had 37 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The court heard that the teenager was walking in Wisroc Housing Scheme when lawmen noticed him with a brown shoulder bag.
Ranks stopped and searched him, where they found a transparent plastic bag with leaves, seeds, and stems.
After listening to the matter’s facts, Her Worship sentenced Mankou to 80 hours of community service. He was instructed to perform the service at the Wismar Police Station or default to six months’ imprisonment.
