As of January 24, 2021, Guyana has recorded two additional coronavirus-related deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 172.
The latest fatalities are two males, a 78-year-old from Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) and a 60–year- old from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica). These persons died while receiving care at our medical facility.
Meanwhile, 76 news cases have been recorded today, taking the number of confirmed cases to 7,298.
According to the Ministry’s dashboard, seven persons are in the COVID-19 ICU, while 36 are in institutional isolation, 713 in-home isolation, and 13 in institutional quarantine.
Region Four continues to lead with the highest number of cases (3,146), followed by Region One, 996; Region Seven, 596; Region Ten, 576; Region Three, 531; Region Nine, 409; Region Six, 404; Region Eight, 232; Region Two, 223; and Region Five, 185.
So far, 46,798 tests have been conducted in Guyana. The number of deaths globally is 2,112,689.
