Parivina Kissoon of Lot 62 Herstelling Housing Scheme was today hauled before Magistrate Sherdel Marcus-Isaacs at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where she was charged with trying to smuggle cannabis into the Camp Street Prison.
The charge states that on January 26, 2021, at Camp Street, Georgetown, she tried to introduce 12 grams of cannabis into the prison.
Kissoon pleaded not guilty.
She was released on $20,000 bail and told to return to court on March 1, 2021.
The prosecutor told the court that on the day in question Kissoon visited the prison. While she was being checked by security, a parcel containing the suspected illicit drug was found.
She was cautioned and informed of the charge, hence today’s arraignment.
