A 25-year-old vendor was today charged with robbing a woman of a gold chain.
Akeem Hatton was arraigned before Cheif Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he was read the charge which states that on January 29, 2021, at Brickdam Access Road, Georgetown, while in the company of another and armed with a gun he robbed Maureen Ault of a gold chain valued $260,000, property of Maureen Ault.
After pleading not guilty, he was released on $100,000 bail. He will make his next court appearance on February 24.
According to the facts presented to the court by the Police Prosecutor, the woman was in the company of another when the man approached her and held a gun to her head. He told her to remove the gold chain and after taking it, he escaped.
The woman made a report to the police and later identified the man during an ID parade.
