Troy Jacobs of Lot 726 Penny Lane, South Ruimveldt Gardens; Perez Cush of Newton, Kitty, Georgetown; and Iver Anderson, of Potaro Siparuni, Region 8; were this morning arraigned before Principal Magistrate, Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, when they answered to separate, possession of narcotics charges.
The charge states that on February 12, 2021, at Regent and Homestretch and Mandela Streets, Georgetown, Jacobs was found with 3.156 kilograms of cannabis in his possession.
The 46-year-old car rental businessman denied the charge.Meanwhile, his two accomplices who were read a similar charge also pleaded not guilty.
According to the three men’s attorney, Adrian Thompson, Jacob was simply the driver of the car which was intercepted by police on the day in question. He said that Jacobs was not the owner of the bag.
He further told the court that Anderson, 75, and Cush, 43, do not know where the illicit substance appeared from. He explained to the court that Anderson has said that he was given the bag but because he is legally blind he doesn’t know what was in the bag. Thompson asked for the evidence to be surpassed from Anderson because of his age and blindness.
Cush, a barber, has said that he gave Anderson a bag of fruits, according to what Thompson told the court.
The three men were placed on $500,000 bail, each, and are expected to return to court on March 1.
