Forty-five-year-old, Okechi Farley of Moor Park, West Coast Berbice (WCB)is now dead following an accident around 14:40hrs today on the No. 29 Village Public Road, WCB.
He was reportedly struck down by a minibus #BXX332, driven by Quaison Abrams of Huntley Village, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.
According to the police, the minibus was proceeding west along the southern drive lane of No. 29 Public Road at a fast rate of speed, when it overtook another minibus. It subsequently collided with the motorcycle, #CK3573,
that was proceeding in the eastern direction on the northern drive lane of the road.
As a result of the collision, Farley fell onto the road surface and was dragged several feet on the northern parapet of the said road and came to a stop at a lamp post.
The driver of the minibus, along with three unnamed passengers, were taken to Fort Wellington Hospital and later transferred to New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Farley was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital.
The scene of the accident was canvassed for CCTV, but none was seen.
Investigations continue.
