The Guyana Police Force is investigating robbery with violence committed on Awei Huo Die, a 39-year-old male Chinese national and businessman.
The alleged robbery occurred this morning about 02:00hrs outside the AWEI Supermarket at Vryheid’s Lust Public Road, ECD. The businessman was allegedly robbed of GYD$500,000 cash and a cellphone valued $80,000 by two identifiable males.
The scene was visited by police ranks and enquiries revealed that the victim on the date and time mentioned had just returned home from an outing. He was about to enter his yard when the two suspects were passing on the road. The suspects then approached, attacked and took away the cash and phone from the victim and made good their escape.
Checks were made for the suspects in the area but they were not located. Investigation in progress.
