The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is on a search to locate two other suspects in the fatal shooting of 10-year-old Anthony Cort. The child was shot during a robbery at Sophia, Georgetown on March 11.
Guyana Standard understands that one suspect has been in custody since last Saturday and an extension to further detain the individual has been granted.
According to reports, Cort was with his mother some two houses away from their home, when two males wearing face masks and armed with handguns invaded the property.
Cort was in the upper flat of the home located at Section ‘C’ Field, Sophia when the bandits approached the victims at the bottom flat and held them at gunpoint. The robbers ordered the victims to the upper flat of the house. As the child was about to exit a bedroom, one of the suspects discharged a round hitting him to his upper, left shoulder.
