Some 86,601 persons have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of yesterday, says Guyana’s Heath Minister, Dr Frank Anthony.
During today’s update, the Minister hailed the weekend as a good one, noting that from Saturday to Sunday last, over 16,000 additional persons would have received their jabs.
“We had a good weekend…The response has been very good. We had a number of outreach teams in all regions working to get the vaccine out to various communities,” he said, while giving kudos to the large number of young people who came out to be vaccinated.
As Guyana’s vaccination programme continues, an additional 83,000 doses go toward the immunization drive following the country’s receipt of another consignment of the Russian Sputnik V this morning at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
