A 14-year-old pedal cyclist of Recht-Door-Zee, West Bank Demerara (WBD) is now nursing multiple injuries after he was struck down by a motorist yesterday around 18:50hrs on the La Parfaite Harmonie Public Road, WBD.
Enquiries disclosed that motorcar PZZ 2676, driven by Joshua Manbodh of St. Stephen’s Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, was proceeding south on the Public road when he collided the teen. As a result, the cyclist fell onto the road where he received injuries about his body.
The driver of the motorcar drove away and parked some distance away in the back of a yard in Parfaite Harmonie before fleeing.
The teenager was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited persons and police and was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was seen and treated by a doctor on duty and admitted.
He sustained multiple injuries including a fractured left arm, head injuries, laceration to his right side shoulder and bruises about his body. He was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he remains a patient in the accident unit.
The motor vehicle was lodged to be examined by a licence and certifying officer. Investigations are ongoing.
