A 23-year-old pork-knocker was today remanded after the court heard he stole two motorcycles.
Kurt Steele of Charlestown, Georgetown, was brought before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he was charged with stealing a motorcycle valued $85,000 from Peter Talbot on June 21, 2020, at Hunter Street. It is also alleged that on April 25, at Eping Avenue BelAir, while in the company of another and armed with a gun, he stole a motorcycle valued $190,000, property of Chelsa Barton.
After pleading not guilty to both charges, the Prosecutor objected to bail and told the court that the man is a repeat offender.
Steele was asked whether this is true and he admitted that he was sentenced for a narcotics charge back in 2018. He said that he served the time and was released in 2020. According to the facts, the man, on both occasions, ambushed the virtual complainants and stole the items.
However, before the Magistrate decided on bail, Barton, who was present at the court indicated that she would be ending the matter because her motorcycle was recovered. The charge was then dismissed.
However, Steele was remanded until May 24 for the matter with Talbot.
