One of the men in custody for the gruesome murder of 39-year-old Kuru Kururu, Bus Driver Marcus Thomas, has confessed. Regional Commander, Mahendra Siwnarine told the Guyana Standard moments ago that a file has already been prepared and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
The suspect was among two others nabbed at Parika, East Bank Essequibo, yesterday morning. The two other alleged assailants, the Guyana Standard understands, are also in custody.
Thomas was found dead outside his Kuru Kururu, Linden/Soesdyke Highway home on May 11, moments after he was attacked by three men, who gained entry into his home by kicking open his door.
Residents said that they heard noise coming from the house, followed by the trio fleeing the scene. Thomas limped his way into his frontyard calling for help before collapsing. His lifeless body was discovered with gaping wounds to several areas including his neck and wrists.
Guyana Standard understands that at least two of the suspects are related to Thomas’ romantic partner, Samantha (only name given). According to reliable sources, the three men and Thomas had an altercation last August. A video seen by the Guyana Standard shows the aftermath of that August attack. A bloodied Thomas and another individual were seen in the back of a vehicle with severe lacerations about their bodies. Another video shows one of the men with his right ear partially severed and a chop to his forearm.
Thomas was described by his relative as a ‘very private’ individual. His sister, Judy Thomas, told Guyana Standard today that her brother never ‘mixed up’ with relatives and that he kept his life private.
