A 19-year-old Agricola youth is in police custody for robbing a taxi driver last night. Two of his accomplices are on the run.
The victim has only been identified by police as a 31-year-old taxi driver attached to GR Taxi Service.
He was relieved of one Samsung smartphone valued at $47,000, a wallet, $10,000, and documents.
Enquires disclosed that the victim, at around 19:00hrs picked up three persons who requested to be taken to First Street, Agricola.
On arrival to the said location, the suspect in the front passenger seat placed the gear stick into the park before he and his accomplices whipped out guns and pointed same to the driver.
Two of the perpetrators searched and took away the victim’s belongings. The victim was also dealt a lash to his head and the suspects then made good their escape on foot east along a dam.
A report was made at the Agricola Police Outpost. The patrol escorted the taxi driver into Agricola and he pointed out the 19-year-old as one of the perpetrators. He was arrested.
