Today, the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) dispatched trucks with relief hampers to East Berbice-Corentyne (Region 6) and Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice (Region 10). Black Bush Polder in Region 6 will receive 1000 food hampers that were packed at the National Gymnasium by the CDC. Additionally, 600 food hampers and 600 cleaning hampers are en route to Linden in Region 10. The hampers will be given to the respective Regional Authorities so that they can distribute them to the affected residents.

This is all part of the CDC’s effort to provide continued support to inundated areas all across Guyana. The current rainy season has caused many Regions to see unexpectedly high water levels. Persons are urged to be cautious during this time and report any flood-related impacts to the relevant authorities.
