A 44-year-old buinessman was robbed of $1.2M by two bandits around 01:30hrs at Parika, East Bank Essequibo today.
Enquiries disclosed that the victim, along with his son and a worker, came from Leguan after conducting business.
The man told police that while he was at the Parika junction awaiting a pickup to go home, the two perpetrators came from the back of him, placed something to his side and told him “pass everything you got”.
They took away his cellular phone and haversack containing the said cash, before escaping.
They were pursued to the Parika fisheries road, but they made good their escape on foot in an unknown direction.
The matter was reported to the police and the identities of the two suspects were given.
Checks were made in Parika Seadam but the suspects were not found. Investigations are ongoing.
