Two more persons, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), have died. This takes the death toll to 419. The latest fatalities are two males from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica), a 58-year-old and 42-year-old. They both died while receiving care at a medical facility.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases has surpassed the 18,000 mark. The Surveillance Report of June 9 shows 18,088 cases with the addition of 149 new infections.
Twenty persons are now in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 101 in institutional isolation, 1,506 in home isolation, and one in institutional quarantine. Recoveries have increased to 16,042.
