A 43 year-old football coach was arrested today after he was found with a firearm and ammunition, police say.
Police (Impact)ranks from the Brickdam Police Station were on a mobile patrol earlier today in the ‘C’ Field Sophia area when the coach was stopped and searched.
A .32 Taurus Pistol with serial number filed off along with nine live .32 matching rounds was found in his possession.
He was arrested and taken to Turkeyen Police Station, where the firearm was processed for latent print by a rank from the Crime Scene Unit. The firearm and ammunition were then marked, sealed, and lodged in the suspect’s presence. The items were handed over to the Station Sergeant for safekeeping. Investigations are ongoing.
