Andrew Chaung was handed over to the police at the Criminal Investigation Department, Eve Leary, Georgetown by his sister and fiancée, around 15:00hrs yesterday, Prisons Director Nicklon Elliot has confirmed.
Chaung and another prisoner escaped on Tuesday, while they were housed at the Lusignan Prison. According to reports, the duo was discovered missing yesterday morning.
Chaung was admitted to prison on April 20 this year for break and enter and larceny. He is formerly of 73 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara. Elliot noted that Chaung will be charged criminally for escaping from lawful custody.
Meanwhile, the search continues for Shazam Kalil called ‘Boy’, who escaped with Chaung. Kalil was serving a life sentence for murder. He is from Sheildtown, West Bank Berbice.
