The decomposed body of 83-year-old Maud Agatha Forde, of Lot 136 Smythfield, New Amsterdam Berbice, was found in her home at around 17:05hrs yesterday.
It is reported that Forde was last seen alive and well on June 4, but yesterday, a neighbour called the police complaining of a foul smell emanating from the woman’s house.
Forde was found lying on the floor facing downward. The body was checked for marks of violence but due to the advanced stage of decomposition, none was seen.
The body was taken to New Amsterdam Public Hospital. A post-mortem examination is expected shortly.
