Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old, Region Three youth, who allegedly committed suicide yesterday after an altercation with his brother.
Enquiries disclosed that the teen and his brother were having a drink at their home for Father’s Day when an argument ensued.
It is alleged that the 18-year-old dealt his brother a lash to his head with a wood, causing him to receive a wound to his forehead. He fell to the ground in an unconscious state.
Assuming that his brother was dead, he became afraid and ran away into the backyard.
Efforts were made to revive the injured brother who subsequently regained consciousness, after which a search was conducted for the suspect.
About half an hour after, the 18-year-old was found hanging lifeless. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
