The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has agreed that the Chief Election Officer (CEO), Keith Lowenfield, Deputy Chief Election Officer (DCEO), Roxanne Myers and the 2020 General and Regional Election Region Four (4) Returning Officer, Clairmont Mingo proceed on their respective annual leave with effect from Monday, 28th June, 2021.
GECOM’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Yolanda Ward has confirmed that the decision was unanimous.
“This decision was necessary to facilitate the Commission’s deliberation on the three motions tabled by the Government-nominated Commissioners seeking the immediate dismissal of trio, as well as the course of action to be adopted to conclude this process,” she said in a statement.
The CEO will proceed on 42 days annual leave, the DCEO will be on 120 days leave and Clairmont Mingo, 35 days.
Ward said that the commission intends to conclude these discussions within the shortest possible time.
Mingo, Lowenfield and Myers have been faced with charges stemming from their conduct during the March 2020 elections.
Why on leave?
On leave means we are paying these creatures while they do (and cannot do) anything.
So, they are just collecting salaries at the expense of the taxpayers.
Wonderful.
