Four more person have succumbed to COVID-19, taking the death toll in Guyana to 482.
Guyana Standard understands that these patients were admitted with COVID-19 symptoms and died while receiving medical attention. It was during their hospitalisation that samples were taken, which later confirmed that they had indeed contracted the virus.
Also, the number of confirmed cases since March 2020 has increased to 20,568 with 179 new infections as stated in the surveillance report of July 5, 2020.
There are 14 persons in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 96 in institutional isolation, 1,510 in home isolation and three in institutional quarantine.
So far, 194,775 tests have been conducted.
Region Four remains the district with the largest number of cases, with 9,401 to date.
